Custom-made engagement ring // May 2026

14 carat gold ring featuring a no-heat Ceylon padparascha sapphire, a heated yellow sapphire, and a 0.10 carat TW / VS diamond

Process

March 2026

Jakob reached out to me in the spring 2026, because he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Kathrine. They were going on a longer trip to Japan together. He and Kathrine had been together for a decade, so I knew from the beginning that this was going to be a very special custom order.

Having worked with Jakob before at the restaurant, I knew, i knew he likes it a bit out of the ordinary, with raw shapes and raw materials.

Designing the ring

With Jakob already having an idea of what he wanted, i had a good starting point and quickly got to work.

Choosing the stones wasn’t easy but after exploring different possibilities and colour combinations together, we settled on these two sapphires and one specific diamond.

We worked with a big and beautiful pink no-heat Padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka. Padparadscha sapphires a very unique because of their pink, rose and orange color twist.

Along with it, we added a smaller yellow sapphire to represents the calm foundation and a life built together over time.

To top it off, we added a 0.10 carat TW/VS natural white diamond.

After getting the ring cast, it was time to set the stones. This part is quite difficult and doesn’t leave much room for mistakes. This was very nerve-wracking, with the couple soon leaving for Japan and as it was my first time ever setting stones. But in the end, all the stones were set exactly as I had hoped for.

To finish up, i polished the ring, making the gold look beautiful.
