The Fern
First year exam at Design School of Kolding, summer 2026
Made from brass and inspired by the fern, the necklace is an extravagant, voluminous piece composed of more than 100 individual leaves.Process
I studied the fern and used its shapes and organic form language as inspiration for this piece.
The project involved a lot of experimenting, failing, changing things and trying again. A pretty classic design process.
My desk was a complete mess during the exam period, but I had a lot of fun (and stress) figuring everything out, from the first studies and sketches to figuring out how to actually construct the piece in the Fine Craft studio.
Seeing the piece slowly come to life was definitely one of the best parts.
All-nighters in the studio. Now it was finally time to put all the leaves together into one piece.
The necklace was so big, I needed a couple of extra hands to help assemble it.
